Clean Energy

Hi there, Kids! I’m Eco the Frog. You may have seen some of my cousins in your backyard … we’re small, but mighty. If anything were to ever happen to us, the world would be a very different place. Plants, animals and even people could be affected. That’s why I’m here to talk about the environment and one way we can help the planet—by using the cleanest of the fossil fuels.

Like Daisy the Dinosaur says, natural gas is a fossil fuel, meaning it was made from the remains of plants, animals and dinosaurs. Natural gas is also known as an environmentally-friendly fuel because it is the cleanest and most efficient fossil fuel. The average natural gas home emits almost 50% less carbon compared to the average all-electric home.

Today’s natural gas appliances—like the stove, clothes dryer, furnace and water heater—are more efficient than ever, which means your family uses less energy and spends less money operating the household . . . which is great news for your mom and dad.

We can do many things to improve our environment, but we cannot renew the resources it took nature millions of years to create. That’s why the natural gas delivery system helps conserve our nation's supplies by efficiently bringing energy to homes. With natural gas, about 91% of the energy in the gas is available for use.

If you would like to find out more about clean, green natural gas, ask your parents if you can visit the American Gas Association website, at www.aga.org.
