Tips for Using Hot Water

  1. If the water coming out of your faucet is too hot, ask your parents to put the water heater setting on normal or low. If the setting is too high, it wastes energy and it could be dangerous.
  2. Did you know that taking a shower instead of a bath uses less water? Also, don't run water unnecessarily when brushing teeth or washing hands. You can save gallons of water.
  3. Never put just one or two items in the dishwasher or washing machine. Make sure to wash a full load every time.
  4. Make sure you turn off the faucet completely when not in use. Constant dripping adds up to gallons of wasted hot water each year.
  5. Remind your mom and dad that heating an oversized tank of water wastes gas.
