Hi, I’m Jack the Dog! The best way to prevent accidents is to be aware. Warning signs usually let us know when there is something wrong. Here are some tips to keep you and your family safe.
Follow Your Nose
I have a great sense of smell . . . about 55 times stronger than yours. My nose always knows … and when I follow it I help prevent dangerous situations inside my home. You can follow your nose and be safe too!
If you smell something yucky —like rotten eggs—leave your home immediately and warn others! Don’t worry if you are not sure if the smell is really natural gas, it’s always better to leave and then call Laclede, the natural gas experts, to come and check it out.
Once you are outside the home, call Laclede Gas immediately at 314-621-6960 or 800-887-4173 from a neighbor’s house. Under no circumstances should you stay in your home if you smell gas.
And NEVER do any of these things when you smell gas:
- Turn on or off a light switch, TV or anything
- Use the telephone
- Use the cell phone
- Light a match
